It has been exactly ten days since BridgeURL got its first visitor. In these ten days, there has been some pretty exciting activity on the website. In this span of ten days, visitors to the website have created more than 2800 bridgeURLs that link close to 23,960 links. I am really encouraged by the response that the website has received and hope to bring more features that will improve the usability of the website.
One of the major issues that I noticed was with respect to the display of some websites on the bridges that we create. As I had noted in the earlier post, some websites block the display of their content over IFrames and that really ruins the experience while viewing a series of pages over a BridgeURL slideshow.
Now, I do not have control over what the other websites do. But I just wanted to make it easy for my website users to share content. To that effect, here’s the new /all. Using the new /all page, users may be able to view all the shared links on one page – listed one after another. This is not as classy-looking as viewing over a slideshow. But this page will be helpful if you realize that some pages on your bridge are not compatible for slideshow viewing.
Additionally, the /all page should also let users view shared links over a touchscreen interface like the iPhone. As you may have realized, the slideshow links do not really work well on these interfaces and this new format should be useful for these users.
How To Access /all
It is pretty simple. Any bridge you have created till now can be viewed in an alternate one-page view by adding a /all at the end of the page. For instance, the link http://bridgeurl.com/Yahoo-News may be viewed in the alternate format on http://bridgeurl.com/Yahoo-News/all .
